Peter Helm joined Hylandin2021 as the Director of Development. He has managed land development projects in the Lower Mainland for the past 12 years. Peter also had a bi-vocational role in planting and pastoring a church in Coquitlam for 5 years. He has been married to his wife Amanda for 12 years and they have 3 boys. In his spare time, Peter enjoys reading, playing guitar, and cycling. He has completed a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science at SFU and a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC.

Julia Schmidt, CPA, CA started her career in public practice and after having established a solid foundation of technical knowledge, management skills and experience in consulting owner managed businesses, moved to the private sector. She has over 25 years of experience providing business owners across a range of industries with financial management oversight of their business as well as supervision and mentorship of their accounting team.

Martin joined Hyland in May 2019. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has several years of experience in the manufacturing, service, and health care industries. His roles include responsibilities for administration and finance. Martin and his wife Tiffany have been married for 25 years and have two adult daughters.
James Siebert
James Siebert
James has served with MCC as an employee for 24 years in various roles. During his time with MCC Employment and Community Development, he managed the start-up and operation of the Retail Sales and Customer Service program along with the retail training store and managed and facilitated the Asset Development Account Program. James later went on to manage Ecoworks Landscape Services Inc. as a subsidiary business generating funds to further the work of MCC programs. He also served as the Director of Social Enterprise Development for MCC Community Enterprises Inc. James and his wife Anita have been married for 25 years and have three children.

Glenn has recently joined Hyland in September 2022. He has over 35 years of experience in the consulting, project coordination and construction management roles for both consulting firms as well as development companies. His roles have included construction administration, project estimating, detailed design assessment and reviews and even a short stint as a site supervisor. Glenn’s responsibilities at Hyland will include both new project builds as well as renovations/alterations of existing buildings. He enjoys volunteering for local city organizations and is presently a member of the Board of Variance Committee for the City of Abbotsford. Glenn has been married to his wife Doris for 35 years and has two children and expecting his first grandchild this Fall.

Jay joined Hyland in January 2016 as its first Executive Director. Jay has been involved in the land development industry for 25 years. Previously he was the General Manager of Economic Development and Planning Services with the City of Abbotsford where he led the team responsible for managing the approval process for land development applications. Jay’s responsibilities also included the City’s real estate portfolio. Prior to joining the City of Abbotsford he was a member of the senior management team for a master planned, multi-phased resort community developer. He is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Jay has been married to his wife Koralee for 38 years and has three adult daughters and two grandchildren.
Aristides Cota

Ari has a background in Civil Engineering and Architecture, as well as over
15 years of experience in real estate development. He has managed a
diverse range of projects including high-rises, master-planned communities,
and environmentally sustainable developments. Ari, his wife Kali and 6
children, are originally from Mexico City and have been in Victoria for the
last 13 years. Outside of work and family time, Ari’s interests include science,
technology, music, and paddleboarding.
